Iroh | Avatar the Last Airbender

Sunset Memories: CW: mentions of the loss of a child
Iroh generally wouldn’t want to travel to a desert, not so much because of the heat, but because it often offered very little in terms of food and water. However, the locals spoke of a beautiful sight that awaited those who ventured there. After hours of travel, among the others who had made the journey, Iroh set up a blanket and took out a kettle to brew some tea as the sun began its descent in the sky. It gradually sank to the west, setting the sky ablaze with color.

As he looked up, he saw a haze of colors—pinks, reds, yellows, oranges, greens, and purples—bleeding from the fading blue sky into the orange and purple hues of the approaching night. It resembled embers rising from a smoldering fire, with the wings of the moths catching the last glimmers of light and reflecting them in mesmerizing patterns. Iroh felt grateful to be there, witnessing such a magnificent and seemingly rare display.

As the moths drew closer, Iroh extended his hand, and one of the creatures landed gently in his open palm. He marveled at the glittery trail it left behind, with the dust resembling twinkling stars across his hand and forearm. In that moment, his mind wandered back to when he was a younger man—a time when he lived in the palace, part of the royal family and a respected general. Yet, it was not his status that mattered most; it was the laughter that he cherished. The sound of the son he lost due to his ambition and the role he played in his father's war lingered in his mind. He remembered playing in the garden with Lu Ten, recalling his son's youthful energy and boundless joy for life. For a moment, there was nothing more he could do but close his eyes, tears welling up as the moth continued to rest on his hand. Taking a deep breath, and wiping at his eyes, he looked down at the creature there.

"Thank you."

Weather Wise:
As May progressed and the initial wonder of the desert began to fade like the setting sun, it became clear that the pleasant weather they had enjoyed was also on the verge of leaving. The locals started preparing for the impending rain, and Iroh could sense their unease and anticipation for what was to come. He respected their decision to take action early, knowing that being proactive would ensure they were ready when the rain arrived, better equipped to handle whatever challenges it might bring. He was there alongside them, helping to fill the sandbags, offering to help those who might be having trouble lifting them.

I am always happen to learn more about the wonderful people here, and those that inhabit this place. As well as those who have arrived here from so many distant lands. I'd also love to learn more about the customs and traditions of those who are willing to share as well, so that we might all better understand and learn from one another.
