[Hollyberry was wise to keep the crowds away from Pitaya and vice versa. This conversation went about as "well" as Hollyberry could have imagined, and though no real damage will be done to her, the possibility is still there. She'll definitely need a hell of a rest after this - they both will, just from the mental and emotional fatigue alone.

Fear, yes. Pitaya wouldn't admit it, but they are definitely afraid. After all they've been through just moments ago, for them anyway - the fear of losing their power, the fear of losing their life, the fear of now having to care for a hatchling who they've bonded with, the fear that strong Cookies can lie and cheat even them. They are now the wisest among their species, doing things sporadically and recklessly, but Pitaya is not stupid. They are still clever, and have eons of wisdom and experience on their side, but that one interaction, that one betrayal of a deal spoken in their native tongue... It's taken root.

Who else will lie to them? Who else will betray they trust? Who else will twist, and bend, and break the bonds they have forged? They are choosing to believe Hollyberry would not, they know her, and deep down they trust her with every fiber of their being, but... They way their hand grips her throat almost automatically when moved to it speaks volumes. They loosen another moment later, like a reflex of being burned themselves, but do not release just yet. The silence that lingers in the air is heavy, hot, and thick, but after glaring down at Hollyberry, Pitaya finally removes their hand from her throat and brushes gently at her cheek where a bit of jam leaks from a shallow cut.]

...Your Cookie promisesss mean nothing to me.

[But they've already bound themselves to Hollyberry, and making another real promise, a real deal, is out of the question. They just have to take her word, and that's so...so difficult. When every instinct is screaming not to. Eventually though, with a droop of their head because even if they did destroy Hollyberry here and now, it would fix and change nothing, Pitaya slides off of her and stands up, spreading their wings.]

It wasss good to sssee you here, Hollyberry Cookie. [But oh man. They really, really need to not see you right now. At least for a few hours.]
