Metal had born witness to irrational organic behaviors on many occasions, the bizarre urge to take action that directly conflicted with their physical wellbeing. While that was all well and good when the outcome was worth it in this instance it seemed highly irrational and foolish. His sensors had indicated that the water was far too cold for human comfort and could even be life-threatening with prolonged contact.
Worse, this activity seemed to be based on the ridiculous organic superstition of "luck." The belief that random, unconnected actions and objects could somehow influence future events and lead to more beneficial outcomes. That even someone with the formidable intelligence of his master would take part of this made Metal wonder if this was some intrinsic aspect of organic thinking. Perhaps there simply was no avoiding it.
Well, for now his master had decided that the provided spotter was not up to the task of ensuring his safety and so Metal had been chosen instead. And he had prepared for the task accordingly. He stands by with multiple large red flotation devices, towels, filled hot water bottles. On his head is a red cap with the word "Lifeguard" printed across and around his neck is a whistle which he, frankly, considers superfluous.
He returns the nod with a gesture of his own: A thumbs up before standing by and preparing for the disaster he is convinced will follow in a few short moments.
