She sure doesn't know that!! In fact, she doesn't know a lot about what happens to herself, her grandfather, and her cousin. And what she doesn't know won't cause a very tense and painful conversation, yes? All she knows is that whatever entity Shadow faced, he overcame it in the end, and that's all that matters to her. He found his light and he's chasing it.

Maria looks down, trying to put everything together. It makes logical sense - those other seemed incredibly powerful, and if a creature could take her and Gerald from their timeline, and Shadow from his own, then...it'd then beg to reason that something else could do the same to Ivo as well. It's just so...bizarre to be meeting him face to face when he's no longer even close to her age. Maria feels like...like she's wasted a lot of time. Time neither of them will ever reclaim.

But she smiles back, trying to smother and hide the guilt she feels. What she would have done to be given the opportunity to meet and live with her extended family. Hell, even her immediate family felt almost like strangers when Grandfather took her aboard the ARK to help with her illness.
