Anne-Marie | All Dogs Go to Heaven

➥ arrival
Mr. Owl! You forgot your book! Mr. Owl?

[ The reason she follows after the put-upon owl isn't just to return his property to him. Stealing is wrong, even if he gave it to her first, so it feels wrong to keep it without having money to give to him to retain it. So, clutching the scroll against her chest, Anne-Marie begins trying to find the mysterious giftee. There is also the matter of helping people and that is something she likes to do.

As any child would be, she is quickly sidetracked by the snow and the atmosphere the vendors bring. It reminds her of the hustle and bustle of the streets of New Orleans during Mardi Gras. After trying to put the scroll in her pocket, she finds she has money on her that wasn't in her pocket before.

Even after helping Charlie and Itchy find untold wealth, she will never forget what it felt like to have nothing. She buys only what she needs to stay warm, tucking the rest away. If she finds someone who looks like they need it more or look sad, she approaches them. Her little nose and cheeks are cherry red, but she is delighted. ]

Excuse me! Can I sit with you, please? I'm a little tired. [ As if on perfect cue, she lets out a yawn. ]

➥ farmland follies
[ Sandwiched between the herd is one utterly content little girl who treats each and every one of the ones who approach her like they are her best friend. In fact, quite a few seem to be nudging against each other to get a closer spot to her, a small calf in particular. ]

Oh, that's terrible. Your parents are fighting? [ Anne-Marie lowers her voice, brushing at the calf's neck. Evidently, at least judging by how the two in question sharply change course upon noticing each other, that is the case. A mom and a dad, won't the calf be sad too if this continues? It resonates with her so strongly that she smiles. ]

You have a very nice family! Parents fight but it doesn't mean they don't love each other or you, that's what my mommy and daddy told me. [ Mom and dad, the words roll off her tongue like she has spoken them a thousand times, because she has in her dreams. Dreamed of parents who would love her as much as she loved them and now, she has them. ]

Please, don't be sad. It'll be okay! [ She wraps her arms around its neck to offer whatever physical comfort she can. That's when the attack happens, the love attack that is. Consisting of her getting groomed amidst a choir of vocalizations, though most just stick to cuddling. It benefits them all, they get attention from someone not trying to herd them and they keep her warm in the process. ]

➥ did you say lodge
[ Drowning beneath a blanket that is twice as large as her, Anne-Marie is all smiles as she listens intently to the stories, songs and other adventures from everyone else who has gathered. She has a mug of hot chocolate between her hands, blowing on the top in order to cool it down so she doesn't burn her tongue. While not a especially shy child, she finds she doesn't have much to offer in the way of adventures.

More than anything she wants to participate so she looks down at her shoes and waits until there is a pause in dialogue. She chimes in almost woefully, still accustomed to Carface getting angry with her when she didn't give him results. ]

I'm sorry but I don't have adventures. This is my biggest one!

(( Precocious child from 1939 who can talk to animals and is sweeter than honey. If she scratches that nostalgic itch in some of you that was the intention. Love you. ))
